THE COMPANY AND SITUATION:
Are you a tough cookie? Are you a thick-skinned, experienced cold-caller? If so, good! The world leader in the provision of software systems to the music and entertainment industry is looking for someone experienced in cold-calling to generate leads for their salespeople. Here you will be targeted on cold-call activity as opposed to sales, with a basic salary and bonus structure appropriate to such a role.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
The following experience is required for this role:
• A minimum of 2 years previous experience in telephone cold-calling meeting all of the following criteria:
o Business-to-business (B2B) sales to SMEs (Small-Medium Enterprises)
o Sales in the sectors of either Electronics, Technology/I.T. (either hardware or software) or communications/telecoms
o Sales of repeat business or establishing long-term relationships, as opposed to one-off sales.
Please note that your experience must meet all of the above criteria in order for you to be eligible for this role.
What we are NOT seeking is as follows:
• Experience solely in B2C (Business to Consumer sales)
• Experience in sectors other than those listed above
• Experience selling into large blue-chips: We’re talking SMEs here
• Experience consisting of solely one-off sales. The aim in this role is to establish long-term relationships
THE ROLE:
This is a newly-created role in the company. You will be targeted and paid on activity as opposed to sales (although of course, if any of your leads turn into sales you will be duly rewarded!). Your task is to cold-call in the hope of generating leads, demos and appointments for the field salespeople. You will be targeted at 150 calls per month (calls that consist of getting through to the decision-maker) and rewarded for achieving your cold-calling quota. The client here is an I.T. company producing software for the music and entertainment industry, so your area is quite niche, for example you’d be calling a music publishing company to establish if they have a requirement for a royalty system. As this position is activity-driven, rather than sales-driven, the basic salary here is higher than would normally be the case for this kind of role (Max £25K), with a performance-related bonus rather than sales commission.
THE PROSPECTS AND OPPORTUNITY:
Success in this role will move you more into sales account management and looking after existing clients, as long as you maintain the pipeline of new prospects. The cold-calling activity must not decline as a result – this is NOT a role where you merely tolerate cold-calling in the first few months in order not to have to do it in the future – this is a role for a “career†cold-calling telephone salesperson, in a highly successful company in a very interesting sector: The client here is the market leader and industry standard for the supply of software to the Music, Film and TV industries.
