We are an internationally well established Business Recruitment and Consulting Firm in Germany. On behalf of our most important client currently we are looking for a Key Account Manager in the consumer Division of our client in the U.K.


Company Profile

Our client is a leading manufacturer in the market for high technology, high quality equipment and systems for the application of wet and powder lacquers, paints and other liquid media onto surfaces. Our client is active throughout the world with around 1700 employees, nine production plants, 11 international sales companies and approximately 50 international agencies.

English as native language. German is preferable.
At least 5 years experience as regional sales manager or key account manager.
Experience in business development for FMCG and Trade products linked to the DIY Home Improvement and Trade Paint Distribution channels.
Effective written and oral communication and interpersonal skills with a proven ability to build strong relationships with customers at multiple organisational levels and the support functions in the central Division Decorative Finishing.
Possess effective negotiation skills at senior level or at least has the ability to reach this level on short notice.
Be self reliant, motivated and a self starter.
Possess computer skills at level to effectively execute presentations and correspondence – skills required are Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook and / or Lotus Notes.
Good retail and distribution exposure with strong experience and understanding of promotion, merchandising, distribution and establishing end user demand.
Overall experience in Hardware, Mass merchant, Paint and/or related channels with an understanding of the major differences between retail and trade type customers.

Primary functions

Successfully manage the development of the Consumer Business of our client in UK by continuously improving sales and sales support functions, implementing sales development plans, actions and initiatives to our client’s consumer customers.
Ensure that all selling activities are consistently and effectively executed to achieve the objectives of sales development plans, actions and initiatives.
Achieve the agreed Sales, Gross Profit Margins and Operating Income of the Annual Budgets and Plans.
Drive the professional development of the external sales support team (e.g. merchandising, demonstrations), enhancing their skills with the objective of improving standards in the paint application demonstrations as well as co-ordinating and improving all aspects of the merchandising function.
Maintaining and establishing good customer relationships to build a professional standing and reputation of the company with its customers and within the market segment.
Maintaining and establishing good relationships to all support functions within our client’s company as well as the Key Account organisations.
Ensure comprehensive knowledge of the company’s products and its competition is maintained.

Secondary Functions

Manage the company’s sales function with all key Accounts/major customers for the following channels in which the company operates:

DIY – Chains
Hardware Stores
Further Duties:
Develop new customers
Develop alliances with Paint manufacturer together with the responsible for European Paint alliances
Implement the local strategy which is based on the overall our client’s strategy together with the Division management Europe/Asia Decorative Finishing

Competitor and Market Intelligence

Be aware and maintain a working knowledge and file of competitor activities within the market. Report to the Commercial Manager UK and the European Divisional management the business implication of relevant competitor activities.
Determine areas where competitor weaknesses can be exploited.




Remuneration and Support Equipment/Provision

On offer is an excellent base salary of up to 60,000-70,000 GBP (depending on experience)
Annual Incentive Scheme:
Upon achievement of the 100% level of the agreed objectives a 25% Incentive Bonus of Annual Salary is payable.
Fully maintained company vehicle (in accordance with our client’s guidelines), laptop and mobile telephone, home office equipment: telephone, Fax, Internet. Travel and Entertainment Expenses
