THE COMPANY AND SITUATION OVERVIEW:
One of the biggest names in the world of professional services is launching a brand new modelling team producing a unique service offering for which there is currently no equivalent in existence. This will consist of advisory services relating to Credit Portfolio Modelling for the financial sector, truly a Greenfield situation! For this senior role they require a multi-skilled individual with strong experience in modelling Credit Portfolio Models.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Due to the extent of the opportunity inherent in this role, the following attributes and experience are essential:
• A degree and/or relevant professional qualification
• Relevant Industry experience (Banking/Financial Services)
• A very strong mathematical background
• A minimum of 2 years previous experience in Credit Portfolio Modelling (either building credit portfolio models from scratch, or at least reproducing a version of a recognised model)
• Your Credit Portfolio Modelling experience should include all of: Correlation modelling, Economic Capital, Value at Risk (VAR), Expected shortfall and Monte Carlo Simulation techniques
• Knowledge of Rating Agency models and portfolio optimisation
• Knowledge of KMV Portfolio Manager
• Commercial experience (i.e. not solely academic) in VBA or C++
• Excellent Excel skills
• Excellent written and spoken English – of the standard that can produce presentations that don’t need checking!
Please note the above experience is essential: You require all of the above to be eligible for this role.
Desirable, but not essential, are any of the following:
• Knowledge of Numerical Algorithms Group (NAG) libraries
• Knowledge of Credit derivative modelling and pricing (eg. have you heard of Gaussian distributions?)
• Evidence of “New thinking†in Credit Portfolio Modelling, eg. new modelling ideas, new methods of model optimisation and correlation, produced white papers, new approaches to risk and research, etc.
THE ROLE:
This Credit Portfolio Modelling Team are building cutting edge models and delivering this market-leading technology to global clients. Your role would be to support the growth of this team by producing cutting edge research and tailored solutions for clients; guiding junior team members in research and the building of prototypes; developing market-leading expertise in this sphere, explaining models, concepts and tools both internally and to financial clients. Depending on the extent of your experience, you may also be required to manage engagement teams.
