Health, Safety & Environmental Manager for Facilities Management (FM) – Greater London/South East
PLEASE NOTE: REGARDING BASE LOCATION: THIS ROLE IS HOME-BASED IN LONDON/THE SOUTH EAST. Contracts are based predominantly in Greater London at present, but the company has a remit to expand anywhere in London and the South East. You can be home-based anywhere in that area: London and the South East would be your region in this role.
THE COMPANY AND SITUATION OVERVIEW:
A leading international provider of critical support services for public authorities and corporate organisations requires a Health, Safety & Environmental Manager to achieve full compliance with regulatory and industry requirements as well as encourage a positive health and safety culture within the company.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
The following experience and attributes are essential for this role:
• NEBOSH/IOSH or other Chartered Safety and/or Environmental qualification
• At least 3 years of experience in Health, Safety and Environmental Management, at least some of which must have been in Facilities Management, ideally Soft FM
• Experience of Health, Safety and Environmental Auditing/Investigations
• Experience of dealing with external HS&E agencies
• Flexibility, as the role requires extensive travel within your region
Please note the above experience is essential. You require all of the above to be eligible for this role.
THE ROLE:
Your main responsibility in this role will be to drive the development of an organisational culture that promotes the health of all employees, supports a safe working environment and environmentally responsible working practices. This will include such tasks as advising operational management staff on HS&E matters and developing, revising, modifying and implementing new HS&E practices.
THE OPPORTUNITY:
There is a clearly defined career path in this organisation and the next step for this person career-wise is to move up from this regional HS&E management job in to your manager’s role, a national HS&E position. The contracts you would cover in this role are very diverse and multi-sector, from which you will gain exposure to a wide variety of health & safety and environmental issues along the way. For example, if your experience is more on the H&S side than the environmental side, here’s a chance to gain more experience in the latter.
Overall, this is challenge: Can you impart your HS&E knowledge to operational management staff? This is also an opportunity to make an impact on future business, in that you will be playing a part in this company retaining their existing contracts by instilling a high standard of Health and Safety within them.
