SQL and .NET Software Developer – Investment Management – City - London
THE COMPANY AND SITUATION:
A high-calibre, City-based investment management firm is currently expanding globally and hence requires a software developer experienced in SQL and .NET technologies. This position is ideal for a “second jobberâ€, but is also open to more experienced developers who would be happy with a non-management software development position.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Essential:
The following experience is essential for this role:
• A minimum of 2 years software development experience in the financial services sector ideally in fund management, investment banking, a broker house or a financial services sector software house
• Experience in either T-SQL or PL/SQL
• Experience in .NET – can be either VB.NET or C#
• Experience in either ASP or ASP.NET
Please note the above experience is essential, you require all of the above to be eligible for this role.
Desirable:
Experience in any of the following is desirable, but not essential. However, the more you have of the following, the more attractive you’ll be!
• WPF (Infragistics)
• VBA (Excel)
• SQL Server Reporting Services, and also
• Sharepoint
• VSTO
• Order Management Systems (ideally Linedata LVTS)
• Beauchamp product suite (Fund Manager)
• Bloomberg API development
• SS&C desktop applications for Investment Management (Recon, Sylvan, Pages)
THE ROLE:
The role is about a quarter to a third support, the remainder is the full lifecycle development of in-house and vendor business applications. This is no “ivory tower†existence where you never get to liaise with users or see your code in use: This is a user-facing role in an open-plan environment, consulting with users for requirements gathering, followed by development, testing and implementation.
