THE COMPANY AND SITUATION:
One of the biggest names in the world of professional services now requires those skilled in Business Modelling and either Data Analytics or Risk Modelling for their Financial Services Advisory Team. The role is in their rapidly-growing Financial Modelling team which supplies Business Modelling, Data Analytics and Risk Modelling services to a wide client base in the Financial Services Industry.
They are seeking a Manager in either of the two following areas:
• Business Modelling and Data Analytics
• Business Modelling and Risk Modelling
WHAT DO THEY MEAN?
Their definitions of the above terms in the context of this role are as follows:
Business Modelling: Includes both of Transaction modelling, e.g. modelling transactions such as fund raising, valuations, M&A and option appraisals; and Operational modelling, modelling business operational requirements such as budgeting & forecasting, financial reporting and consolidation tools.
Data Analytics: The design, implementation or analysis of data-orientated structures to facilitate efficient calculation, analysis, extraction, manipulation or processing of data.
Risk Modelling: The use of statistical and econometric techniques and risk methodologies to quantify risk, in order to support decision making.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Consequently, the experience required for this role is as follows:
• Experience in Business Modelling (as defined above)
• Consulting/Advisory experience
• Understanding of financial and accounting concepts
• Advanced experienced in Excel and VBA
• Business Development abilities, as in, a track record in converting opportunities into business won
AND EITHER:
• Experience in Data Analytics (as defined above)
• Experience in either Access or SQL
OR:
• Experience in Risk Modelling (as defined above)
• Some experience or knowledge of C++, SQL or Visual Basic
• Knowledge of capital market products, key concepts of derivative instrument pricing and risk measurement
Desirable, though not essential, is knowledge of regulatory requirements such as Basel II and IAS 39
THE ROLE:
As well as actually conducting model review and build, you will also be responsible for developing and promoting the modelling team’s risk modelling capabilities. This includes creating awareness of the team’s abilities and converting opportunities into business. Your level of seniority and autonomy in this role will be such that you will also be responsible for leading and managing Risk Modelling projects at any or all stages of the project process.
This team provides solutions to their clients by translating business situations into models that illustrate the factors that affect value and risk. As well as model build and review, services include the provision of other end user tools and solutions to clients.
